Picture in Picture Feature for WhatsApp Web
WhatsApp has started pushing out a new update for its desktop app adding Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature. The new PiP feature will let WhatsApp Web users to watch videos that are shared in a WhatsApp chat window while browsing through other chats. WhatsApp also gives the possibility to switch the chat without closing the PiP.
In order to use PiP feature you need to send a video link from YouTube, Facebook or Instagram to any of your friend or family. Once the user receives the link with a preview showing name of the video, the video will start playing once he taps on the video thumbnail. Now if the user switches to another chat, the video will continue to play in a bubble. To close the video, the user can use the swiping gesture on the bubble. That’s it!
The report claims that PiP mode has been introduced in WhatsApp Web version 0.3.1846. This can be manually checked by going through WhatsApp Web > Settings > Help. As WhatsApp Web checks for the latest version every time it’s opened and installs it on the next launch, you must be already having the latest version installed, however if that’s not the case then you need to clear the cache of web browser for it to check for the latest update.
